The  French brittany is affectionate and loyal, quarters instinctively and continually checks back with you while remaining within gun range.

He hunts for you, you don't have to hunt for him! A french brittany will put in a whole day's hunt, no matter the weather or cover, his energy seemingly bottomless, yet ease calmly right into the home without disrupting the household.

With the french brittany spaniel's compact stature, he is light and quick on his feet, which perhaps is what gives him such endurance. French brittanys are used in all parts of the country, on all types of upland birds from pheasant and quail to grouse, in cover that varies from non-existent to dense.

The French brittany's hunting instinct and intelligence are the result of more than a century of meticulous breeding practices, practices which we are committed to continuing in our own french brittanys. We have owned French brittanys since 1991 and been importing dogs from Europe since 1993.

We have been traveling to France for many years, building personal relationships with trainers, breeders and field trialers in many European countries, and we have therefore had the very unique opportunity to have brought in blood lines from the best kennels in France, the country of origin of the breed. We are committed to the traditions of the breed in France, which are inclusive of both their conformation and working style.

The French brittany should conform to the international standard, otherwise known as the "FCI standard" for the brittany spaniel. Shorter than most of their American cousins, the French brittany stands from 18-20 inches tall, and weight averages 28-40 pounds. French brittanys have dark noses and dark eyes and can be black/white, liver/white, orange/white, tri-color and roan of any of those colors.

We frequently receive testimonials and pictures back from the families of our pups. Link to the testimonials page to see just a few.

At Plum Creek we hunt and breed the French Brittany - internationally known as the Epagneul Breton - a close working bird dog, calm yet energetic, with a fantastic nose and uncanny bird sense.

We have owned and hunted French brittanys for nearly three decades. They are also our companions and  a very important part of our family.

Though they love being in the field, they love being in the home, at your side just as much.
